Communication for Education School Training Grant Application
sponsored by the Autism & Communication Center at Cal Lutheran University
The application period for 2023 is now closed.
Please check back later in the year for more information.
The Autism and Communication Center at CLU is sponsoring three grant awards for school teams to participate in private cohorts of Communication for Education's training course.
The grant will fund training opportunities for teams of 7 school professionals. We encourage schools to create multidisciplinary teams (teachers, paraeducators, OTs, SLPs, admin, etc) to apply for the training.
We are looking for teams who can commit to training 7 participants. Small schools can consider partnering with a neighboring school to include 7 participants.

Priority will be given to public schools in the United States. Consideration will be given to private and international schools.
Training consists of:
-
watching assigned recorded modules prior to attending weekly one-hour live online classes;
-
participating in an online discussion group with assignments that allow participants to apply skills learned that week;
-
submitting one video per participant for instructor feedback;
-
a one-on-one 15 minute video chat with course instructors for each participant;
-
3 video chat check-ins with a team point person (once mid-course and twice following course completion).
All participants will complete pre- and post-course surveys and write a post-course impact statement outlining how the course has impacted their in-school practices.
Training will take place beginning in October 2023. We will work directly with selected teams to find a mutually feasible schedule in the fall.
